The wonderful thing about cafes? They mostly embody the characters of a bar, a restaurant and a coffee shop; they serve up mean concocted drinks (although it’s mostly caffeinated and non-alcohol), scrumptious substantial bites, snacks and desserts all with a side of relaxing, soul-calming vibes – not to mention their instagrammable settings which most of the times are the attention grabbers.

And if you’re anything like us, die-hard cafe hoppers, you would want to check out these cool newly-opened cafes in Hong Kong. So apart from visiting the top attractions like Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong Disneyland, Victoria Peak and Tian Tan Buddha, these little gems studded throughout the city are also the keys to a happy trip (and happy tummy) when in Hong Kong.

Pane e Latte

If what you’re after is a high-carb, high-fat treat, head over to Stanley’s new Italian Panetteria, Pane e Latte and enjoy their gorgeous selection of sourdough loaves, pastries (think cream-filled bomboloni, croissants and tarts), pizza and of course, coffee. The pink-blue retro setting will also make you feel like stepping into a dollhouse packed with butter-laden baked goods. Another thing we love is that they serve all-day breakfast as well as aperitifs.

BARCODE

Coffee or cocktail? Sweet or sandwich? Well, you can get it all here at BARCODE. This part-cafe, part-bar is a place to fuel your soul with French-style desserts and delectable sandwiches, for example, Quail & Egg, Big Beef and Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Their Espresso Tonic is also a must-try.

The Salfee Bar

Here’s a place where you can get healthy bites and caffeine all at once. The salad-coffee bar, The Salfee Bar, is an ideal spot to stop by when you need a bit of a pick-me-up in the form of both food and beverages. The venue offers umami-packed salad options as well as soups, veggie-packed frittata, smoothies and coffee/matcha drinks.

Hjem July

Tired of French pastries already? Switch things up a bit and saunter over to Hjem by Common Abode for their spread of Nordic pastries. Indulge in your love for morning buns and get their signature Swedish Cardamom Buns baked fresh daily or tuck into the other signature dish of an open-faced sandwich, Arktisk Reker Smørrebrød topped generously with mayo-coated prawns, Norwegian trout roes and organic soft-boiled eggs.

Coffeelin

Life is short, take your coffee with gelato. Coffeelin brews up Milano-style coffee with premium beans from the Italian Roastery, Griso and the venue also whips up some of the very best Gelato in Hong Kong with a range of flavours to choose from. Not into sweets nor coffee? Coffeelin also churns out savoury dishes perfect for breakfast, brunch and dinner. Conveniently, Coffeelin has two locations, one in Sai Ying Pun and another latest branch in Happy Valley to make sure you get your dose of happiness daily from their food and beverages.
